– B.R.

“This is the kind of space and a category of space that’s really needed in our future growth. This is something that appeals not only to local investors but also to international investors. This space is highly flexible. It is clearly built right, being able to support a variety of operations”

Darling: USMCA is going to help McAllen ‘boom’

March 13, 2021 (ARTICLE LINK)

McALLEN, Texas – The McAllen Economic Development Corporation hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the city’s much-anticipated Hammond Industrial Park.

Located at the intersection of Dicker Road and South 23rd St., the new facility measures 61,410 square feet and is divided into three 20,470 square-foot suites, with 1,640 feet of designated office space included in each. It also features 28-foot clearances, five loading docks, one drive-in bay and is primed for cold storage if a client so desires.

Keith Patridge, president and CEO of McAllen EDC, thanked Tomás Gutiérrez III, CEO of MDM Contracting Services, LLC., for his confidence in investing in McAllen. He said MEDC Vice President Janie Cavazos has been working with Gutiérrez for eight years on developing the Class A industrial space. “We are finally able to see it come to fruition,” Patridge said.

Gutiérrez said he was “humbled” to see the years-long project finally completed despite a year of unexpected setbacks for the region.

“It’s been a tough 12 months for everybody here in the Valley, and in the world and in our country,” said Gutiérrez. “We’ve had to battle through a pandemic, being the epicenter for COVID[-19], Hurricane Hanna and a freeze to top it off. But, yet, here we are. I think this says a lot about us – the Valley people – as a population. We’re strong; we want to fulfill our dreams; we want to create growth; we want create jobs for everybody. So, I hope that this project, with the help of the City of McAllen, of course, will help and fuel this growth.”

McAllen Mayor Jim Darling echoed Gutiérrez’s optimism, saying that once the new administration decides how it will handle the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, the region will see a surge in business and trade.

“I think it’s going to be booming again,” said Darling. “And, I can see, you know, when we look at what NAFTA did to our area, I think USMCA is going to do that but multiplied by numbers – two, three or four times. And so, this is exciting, and I can see this place bustling with USMCA opportunities.”

Imagine what we can build for you.
